History

The first golf course in Padua was founded in 1962 on the initiative of industrialist Igino Kofler and a group of passionate golfers under the name of the Golf Club Euganeo. The course now comprises 27 holes located in the foothills of the Euganean Hills, bordered by the 17th-century Villa Barbarigo, designed by the English architect John Harris of the Cotton studio in London.

The first 18 par 72 holes convey technical and landscape harmony at first glance, thanks in part to the valuable contribution made by another historic president of the club: Benedetto Sgaravatti.

“The club has hosted major championships, professional and amateur, and international Opens over the past 30 years, confirming its competitiveness.”

The course is a real botanical garden with 8,000 trees and bushes chosen according to landscaping and technical criteria, revealing a unique course that winds through strategically distributed water hazards and bunkers.

Under the presidency of Ascanio Calvi di Bergolo, Padua Golf Club has reached a remarkable number of members (about 780) and is consistently ranked among the best 20 Italian courses. Since 2003 the Club has had an additional 9 par-36 championship holes; these have modern technical features and allow for compelling variation on conventional rounds.

The Padua Golf Club offers accommodation facilities such as a swimming pool, a sauna and a fitness room, meeting rooms, and it is certainly worth to mention the restaurant, which is well-known in the region and in the national golf scene.

It is today a rare example of symbiosis between Club and Resort open to guests, in fact in early spring and late autumn it attracts thousands of golfers, especially Germans and Austrians also thanks to its proximity to the thermal basin of Abano and Montegrotto Terme.

The Club-House is undoubtedly the center of social life for all members and guests who can take advantage of numerous services and a facility full of the best comforts, whose interiors have been renovated by Milanese architect Piero Castellini Baldissera, in a relaxing atmosphere and in an elegant and exclusive setting.
